INGLIS. Attorney Ernest A. Inglis, Jr., 65, of Indian Hill Road, Canton, husband of Patricia (Wood) Inglis, died Friday (Feb. 14, 1992) at his home in Canton. He was born October 29, 1926 in Middletown, and had lived in Canton for the past 37 years. He was the son of the late Ernest A. Inglis, Sr., former Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, and the late Agnes (Thompson) Inglis. He was a graduate of Wesleyan University, class of 1949, and the University of Virginia Law School, class of 1952. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Attorney Inglis was a partner in the law firm of Day, Berry & Howard for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1987. He served as attorney for the town of Canton for 30 years, and had also served on the boards of Child and Family Service, Better Business Bureau, Civitan Club of Hartford, Parents Anonymous, and the Canton Visting Nurse Association. For many years he was a member of Connecticut Bar Association Selection and Tenure of Judges' Committee, and presently was a member of the Clients' Security Fund Committee of the State Bar Association. After retiring from Day, Berry & Howard, he worked with Barbara and Charlie Gilbert at their travel agency, and was a volunteer Parajudicial Officer of the U.S. District Court in Hartford. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Alexander Inglis of Canton; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Peter Case of Colebrook; two sisters, Marion Waring of Westbrook, Jean Law of Hamden; a sister-in-law, Marcy Inglis of West Hartford; two grandsons; a niece; and several nephews. Memorial funeral service will be Monday, 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Canton Center, 184 Cherry Brook Road, Canton Center, with the Rev. Dr. Evans F. Sealand officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton has charge of arrangements.
