She was born Feb. 10, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Thomas James and Dawn (DeWeese) Chimes. She was an artist and a creative writer. She is a member of the Tewawine Medicine Circle. She lived a rich life living in Philadelphia, New York City and Sweden before moving to Maine. Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Per Erik Gårder; two children, Anton and Julia Gårder, all of Bangor; her parents, Thomas Chimes of Philadelphia and Dawn Chimes of Venice, Fla.; one brother, Dmitri Chimes and his wife, Sheila of Philadelphia; one niece and nephew, Leah and Theo Chimes, both of Philadelphia; mother-in-law, Maj-Britt Gårder; father-in-law, Håkan Gårder, both of Sweden; many friends and contacts of Eastern Maine Medical Center. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, conducted by the Tewawine Medicine Circle. Family and friends are invited to meet 12:45 p.m. at the superintendents lodge, State Street Entrance. Gifts in her memory may be made to Uniterra CIMA, P.O. Box 35, Surry, Maine 04684.
