Career

  • Member of the Halifax Provincial Congresses of April and December 1776
  • Member of the North Carolina House of Commons in 1784
  • Member of the state senate in 1777–78, 1795, and 1796
  • Commissioned during the American Revolution to raise troops to keep the Indians in check.

Accomplishments

In 1808, he sold a plot of 42 acres for $98. This land became the nucleus from which Greensboro, NC grew.
