I was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi on 2 February 1941, just 3 month and 5 days before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Their actions impacted my life by restricting sugar which took away candy, cake, pies, soda pop, ice cream and other sweet delights. There would be no metal doll buggies, scooters, skates, tricycles and for that matter no metal toys. I attended kindergarten and then school in the Philadelphia school system. My grandmother. Mattie Myatt was still alive., but she would die in October 1941, but my great grandmother, Mammie Myatt was around until April 1944 to spoil me rotten. | |||
