Accomplishments
- Served in the 22nd Connecticut Infantry during the Civil War. Some of his letters can be seen at the Civil War Manuscripts Project. Ellen Buckman wrote me that he was pallbearer for Ulysses S. Grant at both of his services.
- The New York Times of January 24, 1879 reported that one R.B. Gwillim had been elected to the executive committee of the New York Wesleyan University Club. The edition of December 20, 1884 reported that he had been chosen as treasurer.
