  • Attended Millsaps College in Jackson, MS
  • University of Mississippi, graduated 1944

Career

  • Worked as a reservations agent for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta during World War II
  • Home visitor for Neshoba County Welfare Department
  • In the 1950's, photographer in New Orleans
  • Starting in 1962, in Philadelphia, MS, took over a cattle farm from her grandfather, Dr. Mars
  • Owned and operated the Neshoba County Stockyards

Accomplishments

  • Author of "Witness in Philadelphia" (the movie "Mississippi Burning" was based on this book)

Health

  • Suffered from Bell's palsy and diabetes
  • Died of congestive heart failure

Faith

  • Held posts at First United Methodist Church.
